Hot Pink

This is a double duty piece, working as both a scarf & a belt! Pure Charmeuse weave silk, hand dyed with plant matter first for unique details, /then overdyed with a bright pink synthetic silk dye. Charmeuse silk is a muted crepe on the back side & a lustrous satin on the top side; more substantial with a luxuriously heavy drape.

Naturally dyeing silk with plant matter requires more time and patience than using synthetic silk dye. It takes 12 hours just to clean & prep the silk to take natural dye, Then at least 2 hours in a dye vat per colour while playing around with resist binding in between colours. It's always worth the time when experiencing the thrill of unveiling the final result!

Gently hand wash using cold water and mild, ph neutral soap if necessary. Do not soak. Hang to dry away from direct sunlight. Iron with silk (low) setting.
